Air Force Achievement Medal
Air Force Achievement Medal:Criteria: Awarded for outstanding achievement or meritorious service not of a nature that would otherwise warrant awarding the Commendation Medal. Since the Air Force Achievement Medal is designated as an award solely for junior personnel, it is generally only awarded to officers in the pay grade of O-4 and below and enlisted personnel below the grade of E-7. Award authority rests with local commanders, granting a broad discretion of when and for what action the Achievement Medal may be awarded. The Air Force Achievement Medal may be awarded in a combat area, but for non-combat meritorious service. The Achievement Medal is the lower of the United States military’s meritorious service medals. The Achievement Medal was first proposed as a means to recognize the contributions of junior officers and enlisted personnel who were not eligible to receive the higher Commendation Medal or the Meritorious Service Medal. Air Force Aerial Achievement Medal
Air Force Aerial Achievement Medal:Criteria: Awarded in the name of the Secretary of the Air Force and presented to any member of the United States military who, while serving in a capacity with the U.S. Air Force, distinguishes themselves by sustained meritorious achievement while participating in aerial flight. The achievements must be accomplished with distinction above and beyond that normally expected of professional airmen. The Aerial Achievement Medal may be approved by local commanders, however the missions for which the decoration is authorized must be approved by a Major Air Force Command. The award is intended to recognize the contributions of aircrew members who would, otherwise, not be qualified for the award of the Air Medal.Attachments: N/A
Air Force Civilian Achievement Award Medal
Air Force Civilian Achievement Award Medal Criteria: Awarded to all Air Force civilian employees having successfully completed important projects or reached major unit milestones. Service must clearly demonstrate specific examples of how the employee exceeded service expected of an individual with similar responsibilities. The award can be granted while on detail or temporary assignment. Examples of achievements include, but are not limited to: A particular project or assignment, which involved overcoming unusual difficulties; Performance of assigned duties with special effort or innovation that resulted in significant economies or other highly desirable benefits; Creative efforts that made important contributions to science or research; A superior accomplishment or scientific achievement, which results in significant savings of time, manpower, or money to the Government.
Air Force Civilian Award for Valor Medal
Air Force Civilian Award for Valor Medal Criteria: Awarded to Air Force employees exhibiting great courage and who voluntarily risks personal safety beyond the call of duty such as approaching or entering a burning aircraft in an attempt to rescue trapped victim. This award can be presented by the Chief of Staff, United States Air Force or a major commander. The Air Force Command Civilian Award for Valor Medal was approved by the Secretary of the Air Force in 1965.
Air Force Commendation Medal
Air Force Commendation Medal:Criteria: A mid-level award presented for sustained acts of heroism or meritorious service. Awarded by local commanders, allowing for a broad interpretation of the criteria for which the medal may be awarded. For actions where such performance was in direct contact with an enemy force, the Valor device ("V" device) is authorized as an attachment to the decoration. The U.S. Air Force began issuing its own Commendation Medal in 1958 with additional awards denoted by oak leaf clusters.Attachments: Bronze Oak Leaf Device, Silver Oak Leaf Device, Bronze Letter "V" Device.
Air Force Exemplary Civilian Service Award Medal
Air Force Exemplary Civilian Service Award Medal Criteria: Awarded to Air Force employees performing assigned duties for at least one year in an outstanding manner or performing a single service that significantly contributes to the accomplishment of the command mission. Service must clearly demonstrate specific examples of how the employee exceeded service expected of an individual with similar responsibilities.
Air Force Good Conduct Medal
Air Force Good Conduct Medal:Criteria: Awarded to any enlisted member of the United States military (except U.S. Air Force personnel after 2006) who completes three consecutive years of "honorable and faithful service." Such service implies that a standard enlistment was completed without any non-judicial punishments, disciplinary infractions, or court martial offenses. If a service member commits an offense, the three-year mark "resets" and a service member must perform an additional three years of discipline free service before the Good Conduct may be authorized. The Air Force Good Conduct Medal which was authorized by Congress on July 6, 1960, but not created until June 1, 1963. Between 1947 and 1963, Air Force personnel were issued the Army Good Conduct Medal. For those serving both before and after 1963, both the Army and Air Force Good Conduct Medals could be worn simultaneously on an Air Force uniform. The 97th Air Force Uniform Board met in October 2005 and made the decision to discontinue the medal with the rationale that good conduct of Airmen is the expected standard, not an exceptional occurrence worthy of recognition. On 8 February 2006, the Board announced that effective immediately new medals will no longer be issued, but previously awarded medals that are a matter of record may still be worn. Air Force Meritorious Civilian Service Award Medal
Air Force Meritorious Civilian Service Award Medal Criteria: Awarded to any Air Force civilian employees having performed their assigned duties for at least one year in an exemplary manner, with a reasonable degree of command-wide mission impact, setting a record of individual achievement and serving as an incentive to others to improve the quality and quantity of their work performance; exercise unusual initiative in devising new and improved work methods and procedures that resulted in a substantial savings in manpower, time, materials, or other items of expense; improving safety or health of employees; improving morale of workers in a unit which resulted in improvement of work performance and esprit de corps.

Air Force Outstanding Civilian Career Service Award Medal Criteria: Awarded to Air Force employees having demonstrated significant accomplishments, leadership, unusual competence, and significant impact upon the Air Force mission throughout the employee's career.
